The monkfish is a ray-finned fish, family of the finches (Lophiiformes), which occurs in the northwest, northeast and east of the Atlantic and in the Mediterranean Sea. Monkfish is one of the more expensive fish species often referred to the French name lotte. The fish has firm white meat, with a soft, sweet taste that reminds more of lobster than fish.
