Halibut is a fish species that belongs to the plaicefamily. It is a flatfish that occurs in the northwest and northeastern Atlantic. The fish is very rare on the Dutch coast. Halibut can be 4 meters long when left alone. The fish is greenish brown to blackish in color with a white belly. The halibut lives in salt water and is also called the 'giant of the sea'. Halibut is a whitefish and mild in taste.
